Rangers Avoid Elimination

The Rangers have kept their season alive, defeating the Los Angeles Kings 2 to 1 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Benoit Pouliot scored in the 1st and Martin St. Louis tallied a 2nd period goal to give the Rangers the lead.  Dustin Brown later scored for the Kings, but Henrik Lundqvist saved 40 shots to preserve the win.

"Going into this game I didn't want to change anything," Lundqvist said.  "I just tried to go out and compete."

Lunqvist did get a lucky break late in the 3rd period, when the puck slid past him and stopped just short of the goal line.  Derek Stepan was able to sweep the puck away before it could be pushed into the net.

"I knew that it wasn't in because the light wasn't going on.  I didn't know exactly where it was," coach Alain Vigneault said.

The Rangers trail the series 3 games to 1, with Game 5 scheduled for Friday night in Los Angeles.

The Rangers are trying to become just the second team in NHL history to rally from a 3 games to 0 deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals.
