Front runner Bill de Blasio surprised many Tuesay night by going on the offensive during the first televised mayoral debate between himself and Joe Lhota. De Blasio left Lhota defending himself for most of the night, something people weren't expecting, considering de Blasio's large lead in recent polls. However, Lhota hasn't wasted any time responding with his own attacks.
Lhota fired back Wednesday on Fox's "Good Day New York," arguing against de Blasio's claim that Rudy Giuliani was a divisive mayor. "Like David Dinkins wasn't a divisive mayor? The man who crime went to levels that we have never seen before in the City of New York?” Lhota asked. “David Dinkins – more people died when he was mayor than anything you can possibly imagine.” Watch the "Good Day New York" interview here.
Lhota also released a new campaign ad on Wednesday using the recent SUV and motorcyclist road rage incident on the West Side Highway to argue that Bill de Blasio would take New York backwards to a time when crime was much more prevalent in NYC. You can watch the ad below.
