Bradley Manning: 'I Am Chelsea Manning, I Am A Female' [VIDEO]

Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, who was just sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking classified U.S. documents, wants to be called Chelsea. Via a statement read on the "Today" show during an interview with Manning's lawyer David Coombs, Manning said she will begin hormone therapy "as soon as possible."

“As I transition into this next phase of my life, I want everyone to know the real me,” the statement from Manning read. “I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female. Given the way I have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible.”

Manning will be serving her sentence at Forth Leavenworth, which does not currently offer inmates hormone therapy. Coombs said he hopes Fort Leavenworth does the “right thing" and provides hormone therapy to Manning. Coombs said that he will do whatever he can to make sure Chelsea receives the hormone therapy.

Coombs also said in the "Today" show interview that Manning will be asking President Obama for a pardon.
